Starting in the fall of 2020, Celestyal Olympia will cruise to the Adriatic and visit six new destinations in Italy, Greece, Montenegro and Croatia. Our 7-Night Romantic Adriatic itinerary sails four departures in December, calling at Venice, Corfu, Patras, Kotor, Dubrovnik and Split when the destinations are less crowded and the temperatures are more comfortable compared to the summer months. If you’re looking for authentic travel experiences and you want to immerse yourself in local cultures and indulge your passion for ancient history, we’re confident that you will love this incredible cruising adventure.

This cruise starts in Venice, a charming and dreamlike Italian city that boasts picturesque canals, elaborate architecture and a history that dates back over a thousand years. When you’re in Venice, you can take a Gondola ride, walk around art-filled palaces and admire the breathtakingly beautiful Saint Mark’s Square which sits at the mouth of the legendary Grand Canal. Considered by many to be the most romantic city in the world, Venice is filled with tourist attractions and astonishing places to visit, not to mention fantastic markets and authentic Venetian eateries. After you’ve spent the day and most of the evening exploring the jewel of Italy, you’ll need to make your way to the cruise port to board Celestyal Olympia.

Once the ship leaves the port, you’ll get to enjoy a full day at sea, making it the perfect time to take advantage of all the services and activities Celestyal Olympia has to offer guests. From games, dancing lessons and language classes to contests, handicrafts and cooking demonstrations, there’s always something to do onboard to suit your mood. If sitting back and relaxing on a cruise ship is more your thing, there are plenty of sun loungers and bars around the vessel or you can visit the sauna, have a massage or book yourself in for a beauty treatment. Our wonderful ship also has lots of comfortable restaurants and lounges, where you’ll be able to make the most of our trademark hospitality and flawless service.

The first port of call is Corfu, one of the most stunning islands in Greece and a picture-perfect destination that offers memories that are hard to forget. Steeped in legend and myth, Corfu is blessed with beautiful nature, pretty villages and many historical and religious monuments, so there’s plenty to do and see during your day on land. The 7-Night Romantic Adriatic Cruise includes our ‘Evergreen Island of Corfu’ excursion that journeys to the cosmopolitan area of Kanoni and the fascinating Old Town before stopping at Spianada Square, the largest square in the Balkans. Alternatively, you can book our ‘Paleokastritsa’ excursion to see one of the most impressive villages of the island and to visit the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi which is home to an interesting museum and a traditional olive press.

After an entertainment-filled night back on the ship and a good night’s sleep, you’ll wake up the next morning to find that the ship has arrived at Patras in Greece. Located at the foothills of Mount Panachaikon, Patras is a historic destination with several museums where you’ll find delight in gaining an in-depth knowledge of the city’s past. The Archaeological Museum in Patras is easily one of Greece’s best as it’s jam-packed with incredible artifacts and regional objects from prehistoric to Roman times. If you’re a wine lover, then you’ll probably want to visit Achaia Clauss, one of Greece’s most famous wineries that’s well-known for its fortified red wine. Patras is also your gateway to the ruins of Olympia, the birthplace of the most important sporting event in the ancient world.

The next destination is Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979 and a mesmerizing town on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast. Your cruise fare includes our ‘Kotor Walking Tour’ with a knowledgeable guide who will take you to see the highlights and introduce you to the past and present of this medieval harbor town. You can, of course, do your own thing and explore Kotor on your own or with your travel companions. If you prefer, you can book our ‘Kotor Off Road Adventure’ excursion which starts from Boka Bay and goes to the peaks of the mountains of Lovcen, the serpentine road, Krstac, Dolovi, Ivanova Korita and the green valleys of Njegusi. This optional excursion is a fantastic scenic tour that combines asphalt and off road.

By day six, you’ll have cruised your way to Dubrovnik, a city of jaw-dropping beauty that will enchant you from the moment you step ashore. Not only does this must-visit destination in Croatia boast ancient city walls, fortresses and unique museums but it’s where you’ll find quaint villages and family-owned wineries, not forgetting Game of Thrones filming locations where many iconic scenes were filmed. There’s no shortage of things to do and see in Dubrovnik, which also offers a wide range of local and regional cuisine, making it an exciting place to visit if you’re a real foodie.

The last port of call is Split, Croatia’s second-largest city with a mix of modern amenities and ancient architectural wonders. In the heart of the city is Diocletian’s Palace, which was built at the turn of the 4th century for the Roman emperor Diocletian in preparation for his retirement and has become the most imposing ruin of Split. You’ll need at least a couple of hours to get a taste of the city and its history, and there’s no better way to do so than on foot. As the cruise includes a free ‘Historic Split Walking Tour’, you’ll get to explore the best museums and some impressive landmarks whilst your friendly guide shares fascinating stories from the past. There are three other excursions to choose from as well, so you may want to book a different tour if one of them appeals to you more.

Celestyal Olympia will leave Split in the afternoon to make its way back to Venice for disembarkation the next morning, leaving you with lots of time to relax on the ship or make the most of the activities and amenities available onboard the vessel. It will also be your last opportunity to enjoy our nightlife venues and the wide range of evening entertainment options, such as stage shows, live music, karaoke and discos, all included in your cruise fare.
